Dawn arrives "early" on this day, as we've progressed one time zone east. As we
depart Winslow, Arizona, there's just enough sunlight for a shot of the platform and a private
car parked to the east of the station. |

The Superliners form a wall of stainless steel that shines in the New Mexico sunlight. |

On the other side of the platform, folks from a local tribal reservation sell a variety of
native souveniers. This continues a decades-long cooperative tradition that began with the Santa Fe, which
made considerable use of Southwest native images in its promotional advertising. |
Time to head back on board. As it turns out, I'm riding in one of the two "named"
Superliner sleepers; this one is titled for George M. Pullman, the dean of American railroad luxury. |
